Richland Academy held its annual inter-house sport on 12th February 2019. The competing houses
includes Obafemi Awolowo house, Ugbors House, Margaret Thatcher House, and Richland House.

Inter House Sport for 208/2019 academic session was one of a kind in the city of Abuja as our students
dazzle in front of teachers, friends, and family.
They recently proved to their parents/guardians, guests and sports lovers, who witnessed their 3rd
biennial inter-house sports competition that they are not only good in academics but are equally
talented in the areas of tracks and fields.
At the end of the event, which held in the school’s sports ground, Ugbors House (Red House) beat
Margaret Thatcher (Yellow House), Obafemi Awolowo (Blue House) and Richland (Green House) to
emerge in the first position.
The winning team, Ugbor, had a total of 30 medals (nine gold, 12 silver, and nine bronze medals).
The teaching and non-teaching staff, parents, old students, as well as athletes from invited schools were
not left out, as they participated in the 100-meter and relay races. They went home with medals and
gifts for their efforts.
The proprietress, Mrs. Erinma Ugbor, said education shouldn’t be limited to the four walls of the
classroom, and that sports help the child to have a sound mind and body. She urged parents to
encourage their children/wards to engage in sporting activities and develop their talents in other areas
of life. “Gone are the days’ people say sports and the likes are for lazy people or lay-about. Sport is key in
the upbringing and upkeep of any child.”
